This isn’t official yet, but Facebook’s iPhone interface (iphone.facebook.com) is already up and running. It is currently being praised by industry pundits as the “as the best iPhone app ever built”. It wonderfully imitates Apple’s slide-right user interface and provides simple access to all essential Facebook areas including News Feed, Profile, Wall, Friends’ Status Updates, Friends’ Photos, Composing, Pending Requests, and Inbox Reading.
I don’t own an iPhone, but it looks equally beautiful on my desktop browser as well. Here’s what others have to say about Facebook’s new iPhone app:
Mike @ TechCrunch says” “it isn’t much to look at in a normal browser. But open that thing up in an iPhone and you’ve got a very usable site”
David @ Tuaw says: “Aside from those minor complaints though, this is a very impressive web app that I’m sure will have iPhone-toting Facebook junkies wasting spending even more time at the site”
Pete Cashmore @ Mashable says: “wow! – have they done a spectacular job with this”
Scott Beale @ Laughing Squid says: “I actually like using Facebook on the iPhone with this new app more than on the actual Facebook website”
Facebook for iPhone has set a standard for all web developers to aspire in their mobile friendly websites. I would really like to see other social networks like Orkut and MySpace follow Facebook’s lead.
