SHAPEServices which makes instant messaging application for mobile devices has announced an iPhone-optimized version of Skype. iPhone users can log into Skype for iPhone website from their built-in Safari web browser to chat or call other Skype users. Making and receiving SkypeOut calls are also possible. Free to try for a limited period.
Their website seems to be heavily overloaded at the moment, but according to Om, it took him just 2 minutes to get up and running. I would really like to see a native Skype app for iPhone after Apple publishes the SDK (Software Development Kit). There is so much unused potential in the iPhone.
IM+ for Skype is already available for Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Symbian and J2ME. This application works in any network and doesn’t require WiFi.
