Windows SP3 Leaked!

Just recently Microsoft released Windows XP SP3 to limited pool of testers. And now, it’s being shared over various torrent tracking sites. The description and details seem to match with the actually SP3. And lots of people who tried this leaked version of SP3 are telling that it’s actual thing.

I don’t have any boxes running on XP, so I couldn’t really try it. Before you attempt installing this update, you must keep in mind that Microsoft hasn’t official release SP3. It might not be a good idea to play with the leaked / premature version. The whole idea of releasing it to limited pool of testers is to weed out more and more bugs before making the big beta release to public.

I found out many fake ones while searching for “XP SP3″ across different torrent sites. You should be able to identify the actual leaked XP SP3 by its size (339.56 MB). Some torrent tracking sites are also listing the leaked version Vista SP1, but it’s just a pack of hotfixes and not the actually SP1. Chances of Vista SP1 leaking prematurely are pretty slim because Microsoft sent fresh copies of Vista which have been integrated with SP1.

Believe it or not, this is a big deal that Microsoft is starting to regress in the wake of the industry’s mass disapproval of Vista.
