Gmail might be jumping to 9 GB, paid storage plans available
GMail seems to be catching-up with YahooMail, who currently provides unlimited space. Some Gmail users have reported that they’ve been upgraded from 2886 MB to 9030 (which is 9GB).

Nearly 90% of Gmail users never really utilize their 2GB storage space, so I guess 9 GB is meaningless for those users. However, this is certainly a step in the right direction for those who are running out of storage space. Initially, I was pretty excited to hear this news, but my account still shows 2.8 GB. Hopefully, my account will be upgraded soon.
Google is also selling additional storage space for $20 per year for 6 GB. Other storage plans include: 25 GB for $75/year, 100 GB for $250/year, 250 GB for $500/year. This storage space can be utilized for different Google service (currently only Picasa Web Albums and Gmail). You can manage and buy more storage space from here. We can expect more Google services to be added and the pricing might fall sooner or later, but as of now I think it’s heavily overpriced.
I think Yahoo is doing reasonably well in terms of storage. YahooMail now provides unlimited storage. And Flickr provides unlimited storage for all ‘Pro’ members (just $24.95 bucks a year).
