Microsoft has zipped-up their lips from telling anything about Windows Vista SP1, but various sources have confirmed that Microsoft has sent Vista SP1 to a small group of testers. These testers claim to have received full Vista installation disk which include the service pack, instead of just sending the service pack update.

According to some of the leaked Vista SP1 screenshots, SP1 is being treated as evaluation copy which expires in April 2008. I guess this is to prevent the service pack from being leaked to public ahead of time.

Along with Vista SP1, It is also being reported that Windows XP SP3 has been sent for testing. And unlike Vista SP1, XP SP3 is delivered as 350 MB update which includes over 900 fixes, including the ones which have already been sent to XP users through Windows Update.

Both these developments make me feel that Microsoft is planning to release Windows XP SP3 and Vista SP1 simultaneously. Is anybody willing to make a random guess on when these service packs will be leaked or released?

  1. Haha, this is funny! Microsoft’s work is good but business strategy is sick!
