Ad-Supported Phone from Google with free subscription?

gphone Months ago, it was rumored that Google is working with Samsung to design a Google-Phone, but the rumor quickly faded as Google said “no” to any such development. And now, the rumor is running again that they have apparently designed a working prototype of a mobile handset which will bring Google Search and other Google Services to the mobile community.

According to a report from ComputerWorld, Google Phone is supposed to be available by a year. It is also believed that Google is planning offer free subscription by bundling ads with the phone, web browser and other application.

Sounds like a joke to me, but if something like this seriously happens, Google will certainly gain a monopoly over the cellphone market. Having ads filled inside my cellphone might sound unpleasing, but I’d take it.

I wonder why Google is so mad about advertising everywhere. Didn’t they do enough with web, mobile, newspaper and more recently radio advertising? Where do you think Google is heading? Talk through comments.

Yes, agreed with Anand. mGinger is spread like virus, I got such 100+ mails about it and i even earned a rupee with it.
  • TechZilo - Mginger mostly spread through friends spamming each other's inboxes about a service that pays your telephone bills through ads..And in a matter of two months or so, it had already made 4 lakh subscribers in India..
  • @Anand: MGinger must be cool........4lakh subscribers?
  • I think it is an excellent idea..Personally, even I wouldn't want to see ads popping in everywhere on my cellphone...But, if the subscription is free, I will always give a try...

Watblog reported sometime back that MGinger, the website that paid you for receiving ads on your cellphone had reportedly signed up 4 lakh members..thats a huge number..Market for such a product definitely exists..
  • You still didnt tell us how you made rounded corners for comments ;)

I am waiting......to integrate it to my upcoming theme.
