Control uTorrent from mobile devices using uTorrent mUI

Insanely popular BitTorrent client, uTorrent can be remotely controlled from a mobile device with the help of new uTorrent mUI. You’ll be able to monitor and control torrent downloads running on your PC from a GPRS or WAP-enabled mobile. It’s optimized to work well on all mobile devices, including those old mobile phones running on Opera Mini (see demo)

To setup uTorrent for remote access, you need to install WebUI plugin. Now point your mobile browser to utorrentmui.com and login using your credentials. You’ll be able to start, stop, pause and monitor running downloads, along with some additional information about each torrent.

No installation is required on your mobile device, but only downside is that you can’t start a new torrent download by specifying the torrent link.

This is certainly a god-sent tool for those who want to download torrents, while going on a vacation.

  • Its not going to be of any use for people in India. We all know how fast our GPRS networks. No 3G and EDGE makes it suck here.

I mean, Torrent is dead slow even in my system with a broadband connection. Imagine those files being downloaded to a mobile device !!

The Estimated Time Left column will be like, "23 years, 5 months, 7 days, 5 hours, 8 minutes, 4 seconds remaining". Wi-Fi may be an answer. But I don't think there are ample number of Wi-Fi enabled phones available.
  • I have net used torrents on mobile and not even thought of it but its great! But what will one download from torrents on a cellphone  ???
  • Maybe the iPhone with its "8GB memory" can hold a couple of movies. But iPhone doesn't have 3G. Downloading torrents without 3G would be a pain in the butt.

Anyway, I see that your posting frequencies has dropped very very low. What happened ?
  • Sreejith and Rishi: It seems like many of you are confusing this. Actually, uTorrent mUI is just mobile compatible version of uTorrent WebUI which lets you control and monitor torrent downloads in uTorrent. So the type and speed of connection doesn't matter much. You'll just be using your cellphone as a remote control for torrents
  • Oh! Thanks for explaining Thilak, I was taking it wrongly! :P
