New Custom Embedded Video Player from YouTube

YouTube has rolled out the custom player feature which lets you customize your embedded player with nine colorful themes. The best part is that you can create a playlist of videos from your favorite or uploaded videos.

It’s pretty simple to create your custom player: Just choose a theme and layout, select a playlist of videos and generate the code. This custom player comes really hand, if you have a series of videos and don’t want to embed it separately. You can watch each video without having to leave the page.

Unfortunately, the custom player really needs 500 pixels by 430 pixels, otherwise the borders get clipped and it doesn’t look so good. I think it would have been awesome, if we had the option to choose our custom player while embedding other videos. An option to choose our own colors (just like how we do with our AdSense ad) would have been even better.

It looks much better than the default player. But I think they could’ve included a lot more features. Some other competitors like Meta Cafe’ have much more feature-packed players and better video quality. But Youtube is still the fastest.
