ZipTorrent Slows Down Torrents

Anti-Piracy Organization, Media Defender have allegedly been using a BitTorrent client called ZipTorrent to slow down popular downloads and record your IP-address, so as to send you a copyright infringement notice. This nasty client is said to be a mod of another BitTorrent client called Azureus which has been configured to send fake data.

Media Defender’s website reads: “Decoying and Spoofing are the most commonly known techniques that we employ. We send blank files and data noise that look exactly like a real response to an initiated search requests for a particular title.”

The safest approach would be to stop download pirated media, especially newly released movie or album. However, those who still want download these pirated media should probably consider adding the blocklist provided by TorrentFreak to prevent these bots from logging your IP-address or sending fake data.

Some argue that Media Defender is clogging the entire internet traffic to just catch few people.

  • Oh please, we wouldn't be pirating if people like me weren't one eviction notice away from being homeless again, so I think that someone should initiate a spam attack on "Media Defender", see how those assholes like it.

Oh and FYI, blocklisting the IPs don't work, plus these morons can only spam us out for so long, we can keep our comps on all the time, while theirs have to rest at times.

So, Media Defender, if you are reading this, BACK THE FUCK OFF, what you are doing is illegal and sites like thepiratebay.org are suing you for this.

There is no law against using bittorrent, and professional sabotage is going to cost you if caught
  • MPAA is trying hard to stop the bittorrent community
  • great post, thnx alot!
  • I think it using torrents make turn out to be a costly affair if the Anti-Piracy Organization plans stop these things from happening and works out in tracing the IP address. So guys be careful....
  • Pretty ridiculous what lengths they'll go to in order to catch people. They are burning more money trying to snatch people downloading illegal stuff than it's worth. Maybe they should give that money to the artists, and then that would be enough compensation for the illegal downloads.
