You’re right about Microsoft trying to do the Apple-like secrecy. They have surely noticed that Apple never gets criticized for delays because announcements don’t come from Apple until the products are almost ready. Just look at the iPhone…they didn’t announce it until January at which time they had most of it complete. Microsoft tries to announce new releases of Windows several years out, and when it takes longer than expected they really get nailed.

Instead of waiting for Vista’s SP1 just install your favorite distro of Linux and be happy, free of bugs, viruses and malware….. It costs you nothing.

Installed Vista in dual-boot mode a few months ago. Haven’t used it much though. Still using trusty XP. The SP will make my mind up to finally ditch XP and use Vista full time!

Initially Microsoft claimed that Vista wont require SPs. But now even Vista is going to have SP.
