Bill Gates Slips to #2 on the World’s Richest

slim Bill Gates has slipped down to the second spot as the world’s richest man. Carlos Slim Helu of Latin America’s largest mobile company, America Movil has overtaken Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates by $8.6 billion.

Carlos Slim Helu’s worth is estimated to be $67.8 billion, whereas Gates’s wealth is estimated to be around $59.2 billion. Soaring stock prices of America Movil has made Mr. Slim climb onto the top spot.

If you compare philanthropy, Mr. Bill Gates has a huge lead over Carlos Slim. According to Wikipedia, Bill Gates has donated $29 billion to charities since 2000. Mr. Slim has committed to donate $4 – $10 billion over the next four years, which is certainly a non-comparable number. Here’s the top 10 list of industries wealthiest people:

The list of billionaires is really long. According to Forbes there are 946 billionaires around the world, with a combined wealth of 3.5 trillion. Wow?. That’s huge!
