Someone over at the Ubuntu Forum managed to validate Xbuntu as “Genuine Windows”. He was trying to download Windows Defender from Microsoft’s website using IE4Linux, when he was asked to go through Genuine Advantage Test. As IE4Linux doesn’t support ActiveX, he downloaded the validation tool and ran it using Wine. The validation tool generated a code, which had to be pasted into the authentication box to validate. Surprisingly, it verified Xbuntu as “Genuine Windows” and forwarded him to the download page.
This video will explain it all:
So what does this prove? Genuine Windows = Ubuntu?
