Safari for Windows has been an instant hit with 1 million copies downloaded within just 48 hours after being released for public beta. The number seems to be quite impressive for a browser that has been heavily criticized for bugs and other security flaws.
So far, nine security vulnerabilities have been discovered and Apple has already issued an update to fix some of these flaws. CNET speculates that it could be security experts or hackers who are searching for security weaknesses.
It might also be Mac users, who love Safari so much that they want to try it on their other PCs at work or at home. In any case, this will certainly kick up Safari’s market share. Current, Safari occupies 5 percent of browser market share, trailing behind Internet Explorer and Firefox.
