MSN Soapbox has reopened to public. Microsoft’s video sharing site which recently slipped back into private beta inorder to implement digital fingerprinting technology is finally back.
Soapbox is now using the digital fingerprinting technology from Audible Magic, which will help them weed out copyright infringed videos and immunizes them from high profile lawsuit, which is being faced by rival YouTube.
This is certainly a step in the right direction as far as copyrighted content is concerned, but I’m not sure whether the community will like it. As far as I’ve read, YouTube’s initial success was due to these copyright infringed videos, but now it has turned out to be evil for YouTube. What do you folks think about Soapbox? With YouTube being the king of the hill, do you really think there is enough room for Soapbox?
