Clamwin is also absolute ****. It misses out on a heck of a lot of trojans.
Best Free option : Avira AntiVir. This is better than paid optoins like norton, mcaffe, pc-cillin, panda etc.
Best over all : Kaspersky Antivirus.
While choosing an AV pay close attention to it’s detection rate and update frequency.
Av-Comparatives and virus.gr tests av software at regular intervals.

As far as alternate Virus protection goes, in addition to Clamwin, I have personally tried Avira and AOL Active Virus Shield. Either of those is more than adequate. I’ve never needed any commercial solutions myself.

There is no doubt about NRTON 360 being a very good anti virus software.
Just install and forget it.. it keeps working by itself.. (Some initial set up has to be done as per your convenience)
