Google Redesigns Google Analytics, Adds New Features

Google Analytics which was previously subjected to criticism for having cumbersome interface has now been completely redesigned and enhanced with new features. Existing users are slowly being migrated to the new version of Google Analytics and they’ll be notified by emails once their account has been migrated. Those of sign up for Google Analytics today, will have the new version right away.

My Google Analytics Account has not been ungraded, so I was not able to try it myself, but from what I read and saw in CybernetNews, the new version of Google Analytics looks simple and provides better graphs and data in simple language. Screenshots:

New features include:

  • Email Reporting: You can schedule personalized emails to be delivered either immediately or on weekly, monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Customizable Dashboards: You can create a custom dashboard and put all the information that you mostly need. It’s like organizing different statistical elements in one place, so that it can be easily accessible.
  • Improved Maps Displays: A larger and detailed version of the map overlay is available.
  • Plain Language Description: Data will be described in plain language, making it better understandable for users to take action to improve their website.

Users who are not comfortable with the new design can switch back to the old layout by logging into your account and clicking “previous interface” under “website profile”. From the above screenshots, it looks like Google is trying to make Analytics extremely simple, but yet they’ve never compromised on sophistication. Those who are new analytics shouldn’t have any more problems to start with Google Analytics.

Can’t wait to check out the new interface. The present interface is too difficult to handle..It almost always puts me off!

I guess I’ll have to wait a while too.

but interface looks nice. I felt the old analytics was really powerful if someone knows how to use it.

This gotta be my no.1 in my waiting list!
I use this tool daily and I found out there are some lacking in rendering the chart and graphic. I wonder in this redesign, will google fix it? I hope so. :-)

I also like the previous version and prefer to use it over the new one.

i think this version is seriously lacking in needed metrics — it is flash over substance and is quite painful to use.. from its poor UI – yeah don’t be so seduced by the pretty graphs – wait til you have to interpret them.. and the lack of needed data this gets a D in my book
