Microsoft Employee Blogs About Switching to Ubuntu

With the recent release of Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn, lots of users have been fascinated to try the new Linux OS. Usually, we don’t expect employees of rival companies to start using Ubuntu, but one particular Microsoft employee decided to make a switch for his personal satisfaction.

He didn’t quit working with Microsoft, nor did he stop using Windows, but just wants to learn and do something more on the new operating system. He even writes that he considered Mac OS X, but he didn’t want to spend any money on new hardware.

I’m not surprised to see Windows users make a switch towards Ubuntu. Folks from Canonical have always been trying to lure Windows users and with the release of Feisty Fawn, it just got even simpler (Thanks to the Windows Migration tool). If you are willing to make a switch, do check out his blog. You can expect to read his progress and other Ubuntu tips from someone who has been endlessly using Windows.

Warning: The above image is just a prank. Bill Gates would never endorse Ubuntu

  • Nice mockup!

Anyways, Microsoft is a pretty big Mac software developer (well... MS Office, and a few others), and it would probably be in company's best interest to have their technical staff more... well technical.
  • Errr, I saw that wrong. He's on Wordpress. *drinks some coffee*
  • i might switch ti ubuntu too, its more useful in my work now.
  • Google's not an operating system rival (yet), but it looks like he uses Google for his blog instead of Live Spaces as well ;)
