Over 100 Million S60 Devices Shipped by Nokia

Mobile phone maker, Nokia has announced that they’ve shipped over 100 million mobile devices powered by the Nokia S60 platform. S60 software which is built upon Symbian OS is one of the leading mobile software with a market share of 54 percent (according to market research firm, Canalys).

Nokia’s S60 platform has been used to power high-end mobiles phones like the recently released Nokia N95. Rival companies like LG and Samsung also leverage upon S60 platform to power their own phones. S60 will be the first platform to integrate widget support to bring the powers of web into mobile devices. For developer S60 platform makes it easy to create and bring web services into life using standard web technologies such as AJAX, JavaScript, CSS and HTML. S60 competitors include Microsoft’s Windows Mobile Platform and other Linux based mobile operating system.

Earlier this month, Apple reached the 100 million milestone with iPod and now it’s Nokia!

    Narendra: Previously I had a S60 based N72, but once I experienced Windows Mobiles, I couldn’t resist to have one.

    So why not go for a Windows Device like O2 or iPaq ?

    Thilak: i am in search for best moblie devices because all my pervious moblies are not so smart anyway will take a look at O2 maybe it works for me!!
