Google’s smart new design for its search page is being tested. It’s not official yet, but you can still check it out by using this simple trick. Go to Google.com/ncr and paste the following code in your browser’s address bar:
javascript:document.cookie= “PREF=ID=fddb01133a87d314:LD=en:CR=2:TM=1177334998:LM=1177334998:GM=1:S=OOg0FEVzpPplxe9J; path=/; domain=.google.com”;void(0);
You’ll notice a navigation menu on the top of the page which lists other Google products. There are links under the search box which smartly appear. For example, if you search your name nothing appears, but if you search for ‘Google’, you’ll see a news link. Similarly, if you search ‘C++’, you’ll notice links to code, books and code.

Nothing mind blowing, but a refreshing change indeed. Alex Chitu observes that the number of results shown at the top of the results are missing, it shouldn’t really be an issue for most users. I would like to see this new design implemented.

hmmm, not working for me

This does work, but as alex says only if you go to http://www.google.com/ncr not simply to google.com. Google.com will direct you to google.co.in and it wont work there.
This works correctly only at google.com

It is not working for me too
But IMHO Live.com search got a nice interface, but Google is keeping the simple yet functional look and feel

This new interface looks like the one we know and love, but exposes the user to other valuable Google tools that can help. Nice idea.
