We all love watching music video on YouTube, but troubles like mislabeled tags and other irrelevant videos makes us feel somewhat uncomfortable. TechCrunch shows us a new site, Middio which indexes and tags music videos from your YouTube, so that you don’t have to go through the troubles of searching.

The site is still in its private beta and is due for launch on May 5th. Michael Arrington was a part of the private beta, he says:

“What Middio doesn’t have is playlists or any way to bookmark favorite videos, two very useful YouTube features. Until they add them, I’d use Middio as a good way to quickly search for music videos on YouTube, and then click through to add them to your YouTube playlists.”

I think it will be a great service, but record companies won’t be so happy about it, nor will be YouTube. I’m not sure if the site will last for long, as music video are likely to be copyright infringed.

  1. Right point Thilak. IMHO, all ventures adding value to youtube or similar web sites are doomed to fail due to the copyrights issue. I also don’t really understand Arrington’s invovement with this web site. He might be an investor there, otherwise i can’t understand the fact he promotes a service which is built on a basically illegal behaviour.

  4. You should also try Blinkx it is also a nice video search engine, but this one if good for finding music videos.

  5. knight17: What’s the URL?

  6. Thats a cool engine, i found a video file, that i couldnt find for ages.

  7. I also got a Beta test Invitation from them ;)

  8. Actually, middio only hosts legally uploaded videos, most uploaded by Universal Music Group, which has uploaded thousands of music videos legally. youtube probably will not attempt to remove it, and the label companies won’t mind since their material is already freely available on youtube.
