YouTube Obeys Fake Request by a 15 year old

A 15 year old boy from Perth, Australia signed a fake takedown notice on behalf of Australian Broadcasting Corporation and requested YouTube to remove all clips featuring “The Chaser’s War on Everything”. YouTube fell for the prank and not only delete those videos, but warned all uploaders saying their account would be deleted if they persisted.

ABC actually encourages users to spread Chaser’s clips, as the comedy series promotes channel’s content. I agree that YouTube seriously hate copyright infringed videos, but incidents like these are quite shameful for YouTube. YouTube better be careful from now on.

ABC lawyers have contacted the boy for impersonating an ABC employee and he is apologizing for his mischief.
