Show Visitors Count with Whos.Amung.us Widget

Whos.Amung.us is a tiny little widget, which when added on any page, shows the count of concurrent visitors count at any instance on that site. The widget is actually an image linked to a page which shows recently visited URLs and Most Popular pages, which means it can be added to any webpage which allows you to add images, it might be on social network, blog or website.

They also have a Firefox addon which sits at the bottom on your browser and report the concurrent visitors count on that site. You’ll be given a unique key, which must be used to configure the addon, else it won’t work. So far, they’ve severed 8,993,118 widgets served with over 5,197 users online.

Counting concurrent visitors on a site is nothing new. Almost all stats service today have this feature, however, Whos.Amung.us makes some good sense to share the stats with your visitors. This reminds me of a similar wordpress plugin called WP-UserOnline.

  • great plugin, thnx alot!
  • I tihink I would better not use any more.Google nalytics are more than enough
  • Stat checking can get pretty crazy sometimes.. and really, what can you really learn and apply from checking your stats hourly? More of a waste of time than anything.
  • You are right in your observation Thilak. The thing is that I have the feeling that bloggers (including myself) tend to spend much time in looking at Statistics about their blogs.
Starting Yesterday, i am looking at Google Analytics twice a week and no more than that.
  • Hey Thilak a great Firefox Extension and Blog Widget :D

    Thanx a lot
