Skype 3.2 Integrates PayPal

Skype 3.2 beta for Windows has been just announced. This time, you can send money to your contacts using PayPal. Both the sender and the recipient must need a PayPal account for this feature to work. If the recipient doesn’t have a PayPal account, he can set it up, even after the money has been sent. Just in case the recipient doesn’t live in a PayPal supported country, the money will be safely credited back to your account.

To send money both sender and reciever need Skype 3.2. Right click on your Skype contact and select ‘Send Money’ to start the PayPal wizard which will guide you through the rest of the process, detailed instructions available here. Whenever someone sends money, you’ll get a system tray alert which will disappear within few seconds. Additionally, you’ll also be notified through Event Tab in the top right corner of Skype, more details here.

Other new features include Video Snapshots, which works within Skype to shoots profile pictures using Webcam, avoiding unnecessary hassles to use different applications to shoot and resize your profile picture.

This was anticipated, as both Skype and PayPal are owned by the same company. It just adds up as a value added feature to Skype users, maybe it’ll lure PayPal merchants to use Skype or vice-versa.

  • This is a great update by Skype. Webcam Girls will earn their money easier. :)
  • Wonderful idea but when you read articles like this http://www.voip-news.com/feature/hacking-skype-... it makes you wonder.. Is Skype necessary? It just acts as the middle man.. One can still transfer money via payapl without the need of extra software..
