Jabber within Firefox, Thunderbird or Flock

SamePlace suite is a set of extension for Firefox, Flock and Thunderbird which brings the Jabber Support within Firefox, which means you can communicate using any IM service which uses Jabber Protocol. Gmail, LiveJournal and Gizmo Project are few of the IM service which works on decentralized Jabber Protocol. Instant Messaging is just one of the features offered by SamePlace. Best of all, it comes with few hybrid collaborative web apps as well. Here’s a complete list of features offer by SamePlace:

  • Interact with contacts on real-time shared web applications such as chess, synchronized Google maps, whiteboard, shared presentations (programmers: easily create more!)
  • Use GMail, jabber.org or any existing Jabber account, or create a new one
  • Keep conversations all in one place, no multiple windows scattered over the desktop
  • Import MSN and ICQ contacts
  • Drag any image (emoticons, photos, …) from web pages into chats
  • Keep track of messages through the JabBar even when the sidebar is hidden
  • Quickly hide sidebar and JabBar with the boss keys
  • Send URLs of the page you are browsing to contacts
  • Cycle with hotkey among open conversations
  • Click on xmpp: links in web pages to start conversations

If you love ChatZilla, then this extension has every reason to be loved. Download the latest stable version of SamePlace Suite from here. Screenshot and preview available here

Thanks for the tip, Sindhu
