SymTorrent is a torrent client for mobile phones powered by Symbian OS. The open source BitTorrent client is still in its rudimentary stage and doesn’t compete with any of the desktop clients; however it still supports multiple torrents and resuming. Although the speed offered by GPRS is quite low, this application comes quite handy for those who don’t have broadband yet, or refuse to leave their machines on.

SymTorrent current works on any 2nd and 3rd edition Symbian powered phones. I’m kinda confused with the whole idea of having a BitTorrent client for mobiles, we all know that BitTorrent Protocol works by sharing, if you want to get something, you need to give something. What will your cellphone share with its peers? Mobile phones thesedays are evolving into full fledge internet devices, with phones like iPhone and Google’s rumored Google Phone it might not be long before Mozilla develops Firefox for mobiles.

SymTorrent Installer didn’t work on my N72. Did it work for you? Tell me through comments.

Go to http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/ but I think it works on windows mobile only! I am sure they will develop for other java enabled phones.
