Last week, we wrote an article on accessing files and folders quickly by assigning keyboard shortcuts, but creating too many shortcuts on the desktop made it look awfully ugly and excessive shortcuts will defiantly add some confusion. Destinyking shares an even better trick to boost productivity by creating shortcuts and moving them in your ‘windows’ folder, so that you could easily navigate using the Run dialogue
How to?
- Right click on the folder and click ‘Create Shortcut’
- Rename the shortcut (for example: Rename ‘Shortcut to music’ to simply ‘music’).
- Move the shortcut to the Windows Directory (Usually, it’s c:/windows).
- Now, If you need to open that folder, you simply go to Start > Run and type the ‘shortcut name’
The common approach to open an folder using run dialogue is to type the full folder address (for example c:/wamp/www/wordpress), but using the above trick, you can do it with a simple keyword assigned to the folder.
Thanks for the brilliant tip, Destinyking
