Digg has an option to open the article in a new window (or tab) whenever users click on it, but some users feel it annoying and get that option disabled. Most probably they’ll simply close the window (or tab) and move onto the next article, without Digging it.
Dustin has coded an awesome Greasemonkey script which injects a “Digg†bar at the top of each article page. The bar comes with “Digg it†link, so that you can Digg the article right from the article page itself. After Digging, you will be redirected to the Digg page.
Assuming you have already installed Firefox and Greasemonkey extension, click here to install the ‘Digg me later’ script. Now, go here and test the script
In my opinion, Digg should add such a “digg bar†by default, so that diggers could comfortably digg the article after reading it. Perhaps, it would help users from either digging the article before reading it or forgetting to digg after reading it.

Very nice tool. I might try it later.
I also had this idea a couple days ago. It may or may not be useful. But, say a relatively large site like yours has many articles is in question. You can implement a “digg worthy” vote button to each post instead of the digg button. If the article gets enough votes, then the article will be submitted to digg. I only thought of this b/c I know Techbuzz was banned from digg a while ago for submitting almost every article from the site (Although they were all good articles). Maybe this will prevent it from happening again.

Interesting! What’s Digg worthy plugin? Is that what you use on your blog?

For the simple reason that diggers might end up never returning back to the digg page to view other articles..They might simply move ahead with the links on the landing page.

Anand: Your are right, but there are somethings which are meant to be done for user satisfaction.

nah, Digg worthy isn’t a plugin (yet?), it’s just an idea i thought of…

Hey there. Thanks for the link! I agree completely that Digg should just implement some such bar of their own, but thankfully greasemonkey allowed me to make one in the mean time. If you like the script and/or the idea then make sure you Digg it!

Sounds like a good script but how globally it will be taken up will matter. There is plugin already available but its annoying since you dont submit all of your articles.
One thing you can do is put link like “Digg This” somewhere in the post, so users even if they have forgotten digging there will digg.

Digg might need to think about developing a navbar or toolbar; with a digg button and navigation around for other articles..

Ashish: I know a plugin which checks for inbound links from Digg and then places the button, but once it misses the frontpage, there is no much use placing that button.

This is absolutely what digg needs… should integrated to digg upon joining.

I’m definitely going to make use of this Dujo, but could you perhaps have a link back to the Digg Article without necessarily digging it as well?
