Built-it-Yourself eCards – Tuhee

Tuhee is an Indian startup eCards website that enables users to design their cards rather just use prefabricated templates. There are plenty of eCard sites today, they offer thousands of prefabricated templates and most of the times we tend to receive the same (un-unique) card by many friends, Tuhee helps you design unique cards. Tuhee’s flash based interface lets you build great eCards right from the scratch using variety of elements like background, text, images and other flash effects.

What’s so special about Tuhee?

  • Tuhee doesn’t require any registration, which is great because we don’t like to register or login. I think such compulsory registrations are worthless, we can always use BugMeNot.
  • Tuhee can fetch your photos from Flickr (authorization required)
  • Tuhee is really simple, just a few clicks, drags & drops and you’re done with a unique eCard.

What I would like to see on Tuhee:

  • More Backgrounds, Images, Fonts or prefabricated templates, so that we can customize easily.
  • eCard scheduling, so that we can schedule an eCard to be sent on a specific date/time.
  • Tuhee currently focuses more on Indian audience while providing content for the generic use. I think, they should target universal audience because I often send eCards to my international buddies.

Tuhee is built using OpenLaszlo, an AJAX platform that uses the Flash. It sends a link to your recipients inorder to view the card, it would have been better, if the card could be viewed within the email itself. Folks from Tuhee contacted me and I got some first hand reports that they are planning to support multi-lingual support for Indian Languages. Yahoo Photos integration is on it’s way along with Widget support to embed your card in any webpage.
