Yugma – Next Generation Web Conferencing Tool

Yugma is a cross-platform collaborative tool for your online meetings. It’s nothing new, I’ve been reading about Yugma across many of my favorite blog, but I never bother to give it a try, until folks from Yugma approached me and asked for a review (no, this is not a sponsored post). Let me start:

Yugma (pronounced “yoog-ma”; Sanskrit word meaning “together”) is a free real-time web conferencing tool which includes desktop sharing as well. With Yugma’s free service, you can invite upto 10 other users per web session and you can use. It works for both Windows and Mac, but unfortunately they don’t support Linux yet. Yugma has a robust set of collaborative features such as real-time desktop sharing, annotate whiteboard and change presenters.

Yugma offers both free and paid service, detailed comparison between free and paid service is available here. Yugma doesn’t need any client or any other software, it’s a java based, but you do need to download Yugma inorder to use it. I’m unlikely to use it in future because java based apps almost kills my browser ever time they load. Perhaps, a desktop client for Yugma would have been better.

The combination of Web conference and collaborative tool makes Yugma, a one big killer web app. Give it a try!

    Hello!

This is Austin at Yugma, just stopping back to say that Yugma now supports 8 versions of Linux. I think you'll really like the new features we've recently rolled out, based on feedback and support from users like you.

I hope you continue to enjoy Yugma. There’s much more to come! If you have any comments or suggestions, we’d love to hear from you (email to: info@yugma.com).

    Sincerely,

  • Hi everyone...
Yugma will have a virtual stage at Web 2.0 (April 15-18; San Francisco). At Yugma, we believe good ideas deserve to be shared, regardless of the resources of their creators. That's why we are using our software to turn our booth at the Web 2.0 conference into a virtual stage. We're calling the project Stage 2, and are currently seeking individuals and companies who wouldn't otherwise have a presence to share their ideas and products.

If you have content to share (best practices, innovative idea, new invention, product or service), please visit
http://www.yugma.com/stage2 to read more information about participating. Slot are limited, so please enter your submission as soon as possible.

    Sincerely,
    Karel Lukas
