Google Moves Towards In-Game Advertising

As speculated by Wall Street Journal, Google has bought Adscape Media, the company which sells dynamic ads in video games. RedHerring confirms that the deal was struck for $23 million. Adscape was just launched in February 2006 and they haven’t yet made any significant break through in the industry. Sounds like Google bought Adscape, just for the sake of technological patents. It may not take any longer before you start seeing “Ads by Google” while enjoying your favorite game.

Last year, Microsoft had made a similar deal with Massive to provide in-game advertising for Xbox live and MSN Gaming Platform.

Thilak where do you see future of internet advertising going?
Soon yahoo, and Microsoft will be asking and fighting for market share and then since its advent there has been nothing new or to say path breaking in this field other than changes in approach which was brought on by google with its text ads. Google is trying to consolidate in every possible field over web.
So where does it leave all of us.

It seems like Google has grown up into a teenager and buys everything and anything it wants. I think Google needs to stop buying IMHO. How many deals has that been in the past year?!
