Yesterday, Google officially launched GMail worldwide. I didn’t feel like blogging on it because last week, we’ve covered a lot on GMail opening their doors. GMail has been changing industry standards ever since it launched by providing a jumbo 2 GB mailbox. Even though GMail is open to everyone, they haven’t lifted the “Beta†status, which means work is still in progress. Fresh rumors are flying that Sergey Brin has said that they will start selling paid upgrades for extra storage capacities.
The charges might resemble to that of Picasa Web Albums which offered 250MB of free storage, after which users need to pay yearly fees of $25 for 6.25GB and $500 for 250GB of additional storage. If this rumor comes true, it will surely bring a grin on users who have filled up their GMail account.

That wouldn’t be half bad. I think it is funny how many Google products don’t come out of “Beta”, even after they are released worldwide.
