MyBlogLog, a blog statistics service which recently transformed into a social network has been sold to Yahoo at an estimated price of $10 - 12 million. MyBlogLog is yet another addition to Yahoo’s big list of social networks which include del.icio.us and Flickr.
MyBlogLog quickly gained popularity when bloggers started building communities around their blogs and inserting the cool widget that showed avatars of recent visitors which also acted as a tracking code for blog statistics.
MyBlogLog Official Blog: “Yahoo! is going to put loads of resources into MyBlogLog and help us roll out a ton of new features. Plus, we’re moving to their infrastructure, which should help with those occasional slowdowns”
Yahoo didn’t have a stat tracking service to compete with Google Analytics, but this acquisition will fulfill that as well. Yahoo plans to keep MyBlogLog as a separate asset, but soon Yahoo users will be able to register on MyBlogLog using their Yahoo ID.

MyBlogLog CAN act as a good chance for Yahoo to compete with other online companies like Google.
It will be good if they left MyBlogLog away from the Yahoo ID thing … then the old reistrations will suffer like with Flickr.
By the way, who owned MBL before? Any idea? [was it a self owned company~]

Wow… that didn’t take long! I just heard of MyBlogLog not too long ago. I wonder if Yahoo has to buy things to make theirselves feel better…
Everyone wants to be like Mike! (Yahoo wants to be like Google, so they are buying things left and right like Google does!)
Excellent article Thilak… I am starting to turn more and more to your site to get my daily fix of news! Keep up the great work!
