Last week, I wrote about PayPerPost acquiring Performancing community, but now Performancing co-founder, Nick Wilson has decided to kick the deal and give away the Metrics stats package to the community members and make it open source. Here’s what folks for both ends have to say:
Nick Wilson from Performancing: “After much discussion, we’ve decided that the deal proposed by PayPerPost just isn’t right for us or our community. It’s regrettable that we should part ways as I still feel that Dan and Ted are stand up guys breaking new ground, but in the end, the deal was just not right for them or us.”
PayPerPost: ”After much discussion and heartache we have decided to walk away from the Performancing deal. We listened to our Posties and other Metrics users, dug into the Metrics platform and regretfully found that it wasn’t what we were looking for right now.”
This is surely a good news for Performancing members, I always wanted to see Metrics as a standalone stats package. I hope community members will make good use of the opportunity by adding some more goodies into it.
But PayPerPost won’t quit, they are seeking to integrate another stats solution into PayPerPost marketplace. If I were PayPerPost, I would have bought Mint Stats Package and given it for free, by this PayPerPost can regain the lost reputation in the blogosphere.
