Search Inside YouTube Videos Using PodZinger

YouTube has a search box on the top of every page, but its search is limited only upto the video titles and description. Now, PodZinger – a speech-to-text search engine announced a new feature which could search YouTube videos, besides simply searching on the metadata of the video files, PodZinger can also search for terms that are actually mentioned inside the audio.

They also provide an RSS feed for search query, using which you can get notified when someone talks on that word on YouTube. This new addition to PodZinger looks really impressive, I’m really curious to know, how this search engine indexes YouTube videos.

This also reminds me of Pluggd‘s HearHere technology for searching terms inside Podcasts.

PodZinger uses speech recognition and natural language processing technology to create a text index of the spoken word. This way we can provide reliable search on YouTube videos or on any video or audio file. There is more information on our website, http://www.podzinger.com/about.jsp?section=faq, as to how this works.
