Good news for all those BSNL Dataone Customers out there. BSNL has decided to revise the broadband tariffs with effect from 1st January 2007
Home Plans:
Business Plans:
BSNL has upgraded all limited bandwidth plans to 2 Mbps wherever technically feasible, the bandwidth limit has been stepped up as well. Additional usage charges have been reduced.
This news certainly comes as a relief to all BSNL Customers, but being BSNL customer myself, I’m not so happy because Home 900 will retain its original tariff (no 2 Mbps for us
). In my opinion BSNL should eliminate the bandwidth limits because it defeats the purpose of having an always ON connection.
I can still recall those days when I was on Home 250 plan and I had to think thrice before fetching my mails in Thunderbird. I later switched over to Home 500, but that sucked too, then came BSNL’s Home 900 unlimited plans.
Thanks: Sankar

But Thilak we don’t have bandwidth limit so thats a good news for us that they have not taken off Home 900 plan.

Hey Thilak. According to me I think I should switch to 1000 rs plan because they give 5 GB limit and Night unlimited.

damn !! i want that 2mbps….lol.I had to switch to 900 coz of the billing they give….it didnt happened to me but to may users. We were like whta is thsi ….ghost downloads.
I hope they give to us too

I’m too disappointed as Home 900 will retain its original tariff.

Awesome News
too bad its not for the Unlimited Plan. Hopefully Airtel takes the cue and offers unlimited like last time then BSNL will be forced to do the same
wrote, on December 30th, 2006
The data rates for Unlimited Home 900 and 900 Plus shall continue @256 Kbps and no up gradation of bandwidth is proposed for the same.
@phalgun, 1000 rs plan is good for night surfers, but not feasible for people like me who surf mostly in the day.

Nice news!

That’s good news. In fact, I think I have 2 mbps right now. youtube started to play stuff without buffering for past two days and it’s download speed’s gone through the roof.
wrote, on December 31st, 2006
Lets hope they provide 2Mbps in the UL 900 plan too .

Phalgun: Like Lovedeep said, Unlimited is better than limited !!
So I’ll continue to stay on Home 900, I’m sure they’ll come up with something for us.

Anirudh:Wow that’s awesome, What’s your Plan ?

I Hope airtel implements this too.. I feel BSNL sucks really and I have always Loved the service of airtel..

I am not suprised at this! I would say my Airtel 128kbps unlimited bandwidth Connection will be far better than these Plans!
At 2mbps speed, you would be tempted to catch the world at any rate not knowing the amount of data being downloaded! Probably it won’t even take a week to see your 1.0 GB upload download bandwidth being crossed!
Result: You will end up paying huge money for Extra upload download bandwidth usage, even it is 80 paise Its gonna be around Rs.80 per GB, Once you finish your 1GB limit, and if you use around 1GB perday, that’s going to cost you Rs.80 per day, probably will end up paying around Rs.2400 for extra usage!
So Thilak, You can be more happy as you use a unlimited Paln!

I was reading the BSNL Related Post in this Blog, but couldn’t finish it as I thought I would end up crying by reading all those customer care chaos!
And, I thought I would drop a Note on Airtel ISP. I am not trying to Promote My ISP, in fact I had a bitter experince with them in the beginning. The sales person who took my application didn’t turn up for a Month. I had to Apprach the CEO directly to fix that Issue.
Till Today, their Customer Service for me is BEST. 100% of the time I had a human response to my Calls. So it is almost 13 months with them and hardly had a 5 or 6 times of maintence or downtime. They always send prior notification about it and they do the maintaince work at midnight and finish it before dawn!
Their Tech Person came to my home to install a Remote Trouble shooting System, but since it doesn’t support IE 7 version I said no.
I haven’t faced any technical problem, I am not that much tech savvy to find it out. Anyway I am simply happy!

Linu: Yeah, that’s really disappointing. I wanted to move onto Airtel, but they refused to lay lines till my place, even though they are just 50 meters away from my house. They say I’m at the low probability area.

I was really thrilled on hearing the declaration.. Now only came to know that its not applicable for me since I’m on 900+ plan.. Disappointed!!!!!

Its about time. I was hoping this would happen at Christmas. Better late than never. I am stuck at Plan 500. Hey they should consider the free night time. How can ppl w8 till 2 am for getting free times???
I can’t even take advantage of morning time coz I leave home everyday at 6 am. Damn…

Unlimited 900 users should have been given atleast some increment in speed like 512 kbps or 1 mbps, though not 2mbps. The current 256 k is pathetic if others are getting 2 mbps.
Lets have another petition to increase the speed of UL 900 plans……

you guys over here talking about your bsnl plans ! i am worried when other isp providers will compete bsnl….

Hope it happens in my life time.

bsnl gave a deal to everyone except to unlimited plan specially considering unlimited plan home users were shelling out max . thats pathetic

Hi, I am from Mumbai
and am really jealous of the fact that MTNL tri-band prices are usurious as ever.
Who ever will put sense in to their thick skulls.
In retrospect, we the denizens of Mumbai get probably the worst deal in all Mumbai

Hi everybody.. BSNL made all existing Broadband to 2MBPS…. including 900+ ????

@shashi
no there will be no change in 900 unlimited plan… you have to choose other alternative plans to experience this 2mbps
wrote, on May 24th, 2007
I think that they should give more particulars for the users about their connection and use. They leave us groping. I think they feel that there is no need to enlarge information to public. Woe to dataone!

hi frnds
i opt dataone connection 10 days back with basic phone connection
as i am not aware of plans ,i go with the start up plan, i don know abt the limits, now i know that i can use only 1 gb in one month
currently i am using 250 home plan but i would to change it for 500 home plan…
i can i change it… do i have to apply for new connection…
actualy the main prob is that net and phone connection belong to my dad name
and he is not in the city now and probably he come back after 2-3 months…
so if i tell bsnl executives to change the tariff they ask for the owner permission which i am not able to give them ryte now…
but i don want to continue with this 250 home plan coz the usage limit is too low and it cross limit in a week only
so is dere any way to change the tariff online so that i can log with my id and pass and request bsnl to change or amend my current plan to home 500
plz help me out frnds
thanking u and expecting a reply soon

250 plan- for only knows nothing about internet
500-for only who has a absolutely strong will power to use internet at 2am
900-for lazy hardcore surfers and need net all the times
1000-perfect plan for both surfers and downloaders minus 5gb download limit

is it possible of having Bsnl broadband without BSNL Landline? I dont want landline.
wrote, on February 17th, 2008
Rafic: No, it’s not possible to have BSNL broadband without landline, but you can surely opt for Home 900. The Home 900 tariff doesn’t require you to pay the phone rent. Just pay as you use the phone. Else, you can just disconnect the handset all in all.

I too share the same feeling… 900 plan sucks as the download speed is painfully low.. because of the ‘ghosts’ I have paid heafty bills when I was on 250 and 500 plans…
can’t think of the logic of these morons who decides on these plan changes.. they are still working as a monopoly…
hell with bsnl!!

THERE CONTINUES TO EXIST UNCERTAINTY IN BSNL AS FAR AS BROADBAND BANDWIDTH IS CONCERNED - NO ONE CAN TELL FOR SURE WHAT THE BANDWIDTH IS! THEY CLAIM 2MBPS BUT ONE DOES NOT EVEN GET MORE THAN 100 KBPS AT THE MAX !! EVERY ONE IS SHOOTING IN THE DARK. WILL THE BSNL EMPLOYEES LEARN A LITTLE ABOUT NETWORKING AND INTERNET !!
