Police Use YouTube as a Crime Fighting Tool

For the first time in the law enforcement history YouTube worked as a crime fighting tool when Hamilton Police arrested George Gallo in the Ryan Milner murder case.

Ryan Miller was stabbed to death in a parking lot after a concert last month. Police posted a 72 seconds video taken from the concert site’s surveillance camera on YouTube and waited for witnesses to come forward. Although no witness turned up, George Gallo himself surrendered to the police because of the extra attention gained by the video (courtesy: YouTube)

This unique idea of posting surveillance video on YouTube was coined by Detective Sergeant Jorge Lasso. The video has been viewed 34,000 time and Police said that they might consider using YouTube for future investigations.
