You can gift as many credits as possible, there is no restriction whatsoever. Credits can be gifted to anyone (even who don’t have a wordpress.com account). Go to Upgrades page in your Dashboard, click on Gifts and fill in the form.
Smart move by folks from Wordpress. Someone like Scobleizer or Lorelle should receive tons of free credits.

Its a good idea.But right now i am little short of money.But when i start earning.I will surely do.But i have an idea of different way to thank them.I will surely do that
