BitTorrent has purchased uTorrent, the small, light weight BitTorrent client for Windows at an undisclosed price. Although BitTorrent have their own client, uTorrent had out performed it interms of usability and market share. uTorrent will be merged with BitTorrent’s official client and Strigeus, the author of uTorrent will start working as technical consultant to BitTorrent.
There has been mixed response to this acquisition on the uTorrent forum. Some users are congratulating Strigeus, while others speculate the BitTorrent might add DRM software to uTorrent in an effort to build a legitimate business around a technology that has been largely used for piracy.
uTorrent will continue to be my favorite BitTorrent client for Windows mainly because it consumes little CPU, memory and space.

actually, utorrent is the best torrent application ever made, everyone know it, it doesnt matter what do you do with it, if you feel like downloading an album or a linux distribution but… — as always — if with this “contract” they dont harm the utorrent community that would be ok, if not you will be f… up… another client will jump out with the same, or better functionalities you already have. thats up to Bram and ludde. on the other side, and im being realist that Bram Cohen these days was signin up some deals with the MPAA to distribute their stuff, so that makes me think that he likes the money more than its community.
my two cents
