Snagit has always been my favorite Screen Capturing Utility, it allows me to take a screenshot of exactly what I see on Screen and helps me communicate better with my readers. The new Snagit 8.2.0 has been released by TechSmith. This new version supports Firefox 2, IE 7, Microsoft Office 2007 programs and Windows Vista.

What’s New?

  • Save webpages with hyperlinks in MHT, PDF or Flash SWF formats
  • Make screen captures more interactive with Flash Hotspots
  • Snagit OneClick add a neat auto-hide sidebar that lets you change capture profiles on the fly
  • Completely redesigned User Interface (the previous classic interface is still available)
  • Any enhancement done in Snagit Studio can be edited later
  • Adding new printing enhancements.

Apart from these, they have fixed handful of bugs found in the earlier versions. TechSmith has compiled a nice video illustrating the new features of Snagit 8.2, check it out.

You can download a free 30 days trail of Snagit from here. Owners of previous version of Snagit can upgrade their copy from Help > Check for Upgrade.

    1. I liked snagit but I stuck to lighter image capturing utilities. There’s one real neat one that captures and directly uploads to imageshack, etc. Snagit was pretty nice but there are some great free alternatives available.

    2. Anirudh: You read my brains !! I wanted the same feature from Snagit… I upload all my images to Imageshack.

BTW what’s the name of that Utility ?

    3. Anirudh: Thanks for the quick link, I’ll surely check it out.

BTW, I tried to visit you blog, but it looks like your DB is down. Please check it out.

    4. Thanks for the blog post! I appreciate it and the feedback is helpful too. I’m passing on the imageshack feedback to the product team.

Feel free to drop me a line with other requests. We’d love to hear how to improve SnagIt.

    5. Betsy: I’m so glad to read your comment. Hopefully you’ll add Imageshack in the upcoming version of Snagit
