Hotmail Celebrates its 10th Birthday

Guess what, Its Hotmail’s 10th birthday. It was founded by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith in 1995, but it was commercially launched in 1996 and later acquired by Microsoft. Back then it was very popular, I still remember those days when I used a combination of Hotmail and Outlook Express for emails.

Hotmail has been extremely popular among the netcitizens from UK. Nearly 43% of UK use Hotmail Inboxes and one fifth of UK’s population has made friendship through Hotmail.

Currently I’m satisfied with GMail, but Hotmail still rules the segment with 1 billion emails reaching Hotmail inboxes daily and is internationally available in 17 different languages.

Happy Birthday Hotmail

Wow, it’s been this long already?! That’s awesome. I still have a Hotmail account, but I’m slowly moving away from it, using it less and less, while using my Gmail more and more. But I still remember the time when having a Hotmail account was so cool :D

PS! I think “launched in 2006″ should say “launched in 1996″ :P

Hotmail was always my favorite email service, sure gmail has ajax and a huge inbox, but I just don’t like the interface.
