I bought a Nokia N72

After weeks of reading reviews, phone comparisons and market survey, I finally bought a new Nokia N72 (Black). I paid 14,900 for the handset (inclusive of taxes), 99 for a new SIM card and 550 rupees worth of recharge Actually I wanted a N70, but the Sales Rep told me that an extra camera isn’t worth the price.

Frankly speaking, I never did so much of study before buying anything, maybe its because this one came entirely out of my pockets (Thanks to Adsense and PayPal :D ), Here’s snap takes from N72′s two Megapixel camera:

This photo was taken under low light conditions and I had to use its integrated Flash to light it up. The fullsize version of the photo can be seen here. The camera is pretty decent and the sound quality is excellent, but the panel quickly gets fingerprint marks (They’ve bundled a NSeries towel to wipe it up :) ). We are having a small family get together tomorrow, so I’m planning to give my phone a test drive.

Note: Sorry, this post is completely offtopic :(

Seems pretty on topic to me. :|

Anyway, I am still having a Nokia 2900. I can even make away with a 3150 or such stuff because all I use it for is to make calls and make SMS. I find it useless and cumbersome for use as camera and music players.

I would rather buy separate players and professional cameras than have them integrate with my cell. My 2 cents (or should I say 2 paisas?)

Vyoma: I have a Digicam and a iPod, but I can’t carry them with me (always), so I wanted a cellphone which can fulfill my rudimentary needs…. I don’t expect it to be perfect :D

Yeah. It depends on use case.

I for one, use cameras as expression of art and music players is just being on the other end – so I cannot accept ‘crappyness’ in the quality. Not one phone I have seen to date gives good enough quality in terms of camera and players that standalone units give.

    Hence I keep them separate.

But as said above, it is based on use case.

Hey ! I was looking forward to buying it myself :)
Could you write a small review after a week ? By then hopefully, you would know the pros and cons of the handset.

Hey you could have checked Sony Ericsson M600
I somehow don’t like the build of Nokia phones :)

  • http://tech-buzz.net Thilak

Mr.Cool: The phone is really cool looking, If you take it onto streets it will make everybody turn towards you, but the keypads are too tiny which makes messaging quite hard. It has a dedicated music button for instant music playback (but I don’t use it since I own a iPod myself)

Venu: Hey Venu… Long Time no see. How are you ?

I thought of buying W880, but since it was a slider I didn’t opt it

I will wait for the Nokia N95. It’s much powerful I guess(even the price are much powerful).

  • http://tech-buzz.net Thilak

    Karthik: Wow… You won a lotto !!

Venu: Well, SE phones (the ones with Symbian OS) are too costly and isn’t worth the price

Vincent: I’ll wait for year… then I’ll sell this off.. then buy a N95 or N97. Right now, I’m happy with this baby
