Dropbox is a secure, private file storage system powered by AJAX and driven by donations, with no ads. Each Account has 1 GB of storage space and you can upload /download as large as 50 MB. Folks who love the service can donate 1$ (or more) to keep them up and running.
You can upload and download files without registering, but to make them stay forever, you need to signup. Looks, Feels and tastes nice, I’m really starting to love this service. I use Dropbox to store my temporary database backups and few other misc stuff, but I think their revenue model is too weak to support their bandwidth charges. Go donate few bucks and come back
No credits to anyone, found it on Digg

They really have to work on their revenue model. I really cannot put my stuff there for long time because I do not know when they may pull the plug.

Definately a useful service.

Vyoma: Yeah, I don’t think they can survive much longer with thinking of a revenue source. Even Ads won’t work since there is so little content and AJAX makes it almost impression less

These days, I see at any service out there - I try to see what they get out of it. I am a bit sceptical about generous services because you cannot actually depend on it.

Matthew: I guess, tell come up with a strong revenue model by then

Just so everybody knows, DropBoks has been able to cover its costs since day one. There are a lot of people out there who would rather donate a couple bucks than be forced to look at ads. Keep in mind, bandwidth and storage are extremely cheap.

Theres some confusion between getdropbox.com and dropboks.com.
This article is supposedly talking about dropboks.com but there is also another similar service at getdropbox.com.
So the title of the article is actually wrong.
Getdropbox.com allows people to share sync AND store files online. Dropboks.com only allows people to store files online.
Hope that helps.
