GiveAwayOfTheDay.com gives you a chance to try one free commercial software each day, but they will expire after 24 hours, so you’ll have to install and try them within 24 hours. Its like having a fully licenced copy of the software for 24 hours.

For software developers, it works like a propaganda tool. Prospective consumers will buy a license to their product, if found to be useful and GiveAwayOfTheDay will get all the credits through hits and impressions. Their revenue model revolves round Google Ads.

GiveAwayOfTheDay is quite new, so they don’t have the right stock in their inventor to please me right now. But its surely worth a bookmark and I’ll keep tracking for updates through their RSS Feed. Guess what, their powered by Wordpress :)

Update: the software offered by giveawayoftheday.com is yours to keep as long as you download install and activate at any time during the 24 hours that each program is offered. The programs themselves, once activated, do not expire in 24 hours. Activation is what registers each program, and once registered each program is yours for as long as you want to use it. [Thanks: Matt]

  1. Why not just use the trial versions?

  2. Ajay: Some developers stripe certain features out of it, maybe that’s why GAOTD was born

  3. Ah, but you all must realize that during the day a software is given away, upon activation, is then yours to keep, completely free (we’re talking a full version of the software). All you have to do is download and activate the software on the day of the giveaway to convert it into the full version. Unfortunately, a full version of software gotten from GOTD software does not include tech support or updates, but that isn’t really all that bad.

In interesting news, they have posted on their website “Attention: During the past few days we reached high enough popularity to start distributing world-wide known software products. Get ready for some surprising giveaways very soon!” so I’m thinking its definitely worth a bookmark and a daily check.

  5. The Tech-Buzz story should be updated if it hasn’t been already. The programs themselves, once activated, do not expire in 24 hours. Activation is what registers each program, and once registered each program is yours for as long as you want to use it.
