AdSense Stupidity

Stupidity 1: The most common misconception around is More Ads = More Money, but that’s totally wrong. AdSense has something known as Smart Pricing which sets the per click cost. Smart Pricing varies on various factors like Domain Age, Page Rank, Site Relevance, Impressions, Clicks etc

Under Performing Ad Units seriously damage your per click price, In short words, Pages filled with too may Ads pay lot lesser. Darren has post a must read article about Smart Pricing here check it out

Stupidity 2: Bloggers generally try to suck every $$ out of their blog. Its good, I won’t comment on that, but how stupid it would be to place a AdSense Search Box on a new blog which is yet to be crawled by Googlebots ?

AdSense for Search is meant only for well crawled sites. I personally don’t use AdSense for search because it simply drives traffic away from my blog + It pays too low.

Stupidity 3: Yet another misconception floating around is that Image Ads pay more than Text Ads. This might not be true always. Even it was true, Image Ads receives least number of clicks compared to text ads. So what’s the point in using it?

I let AdSense choose the best format for my blog. I strongly suggest everyone to read this

Am I missing something, Come on shout out!!

  • This is all very true. Another point is that adsense ads towards the top of the page pay higher (call me captain obvious.) The order in which ads are presented is partially based on the bids just like the search network.

Some good points. You be amazed how many sites I see cramming in AdSense all over the place. They are only conning them self because if Google find out they have too many ads, they'll disable the account.
  • hehe...now i know what smart pricing is ..
    thanks..
  • Jorge: No, Problems.. Keep coming back. Have a great weekend
  • Thanks Thilak.
As far as I know I will not be able to try this in my Typepad blogs but I will try this hack in my Wordpress blog. I will post here the results. Thanks again.
