WordPress Plugin: WP-Cache
I always felt embarased when my friends said “You blog is cool, but it take lot of time to load”. Usually Blogs load slowly because, it involves load of PHP/MySQL queries. So WP-Cache reduces PHP/ MySQL queries by quickly storing pages to a static file and redirecting your traffic to that buffer, this immesly improves your page’s response time.
Generally small blogs cannot handle such massive traffic generated due to Digg Effect or Slashdot and WP-Cache come handy in such circumstances. Recently this happened to one of my friend Shivaranjan, his host suspended his account for massive MySQL queries, (I guess his host suspected a DDOS attack or something like that).
Installation:
1. Upload to your plugins folder, usually wp-content/plugins/ and unzip the file, it will create a wp-content/plugins/wp-cache/ directory.
2. If you have Gzip Compression enabled turn it off (in Options->Reading).
3. Activate the plugin on the plugin screen.
4. Go to “Options†administration menu, select “WP-Cache†from the submenu, the plugin will try to autoconfigure everything. The plugin will try to autoconfigure everything and guide you through the process. In case of failure –normally due to the lack of files’ privilegies– it tell you and give the instructions to solve the problems.
