Independence Day Spammers

Today is 15th August and we Indians celebrate this day as our Independence Day. So just as I expected Google and Yahoo India have changed their homepage for this very special 60th anniversary of Indian Independence.

Right now I am sitting in a laptop at my brother’s appartment at Bangalore, reading tons and tons of Independence Day greetings sent by people on Orkut and Myspace. It feels like I’m being spammed from all directions. I see the same message send by hundreds of people from all over the world. You might be shocked to hear that I have recieved 78 same messages title ‘Happy Independence Day’. Should we call it spamming or laziness to type ?

Now here is the message which was sent to me 78 different persons on Orkut and MySpace.

They didn’t even bother to change the title of their messages. Upon seeing this message, my first reaction was to go and disable personal mails from my Orkut and MySpace profile. Frankly speaking it doesn’t make any sense by sending the same lame copy and paste greetings to everyone. Why don’t they try to be original ?

Tomorrow I will go and do some shopping with my Brother before heading back to Mangalore. Hopefully I should get back to work by Thursday evening.
