Recently I’ve been reading lots of stories about OpenDNS. So what actually is OpenDNS ?
OpenDNS is a San Francisco based company which offers free DNS which translate URLs into numerical address used by computers. OpenDNS acts like a barrier between you and the site. It which checks for Phising and protects yourself by blocking potential dangerous phising sites. OpenDNS’s network has been well distributed around the globe and will respond from the close server to your geographical location, apart from this, it has a really huge smart cache and this make OpenDNS terribly fast.
OpenDNS is absolutely free, Its revenue model is pretty simple, Accidentally if you make any typo errors, it will take you to their search page which shows relevant ads.
You don’t need any software to get started with OpenDNS, just change your DNS to these
Preferred DNS: 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS: 208.67.220.220
If you don’t know how to modify these setting then, head over to this page for detailed instructions
I’ve been using OpenDNS both on my Lap as well as on Desktop, It has surely improved by browsing speed. I’m happy with its performance. How about you ?
