Speed Record: 500 Ghz Chips from IBM

Researchers from IBM have created a first silicon Based chip which operates at the speeds of 500 Ghz . Earlier record was 125 Ghz which is about 125 times faster than the fastest Chip available in market today.

However these Chips operate slightly slower at room temperature (about 350 GHz) but still its about 87 times faster than the fastest commercial chips available. Even a near Terahertz chips could be manufactured using Silicon-Germanium (SiGe) Technology.
