I know this is too lame, but some of my classmates and friends were asking for this. So here goes
If you are using Dataone, broadband internet connection from the BSNL, then you would already know that BSNL offers free unlimited bandwidth between 2 AM and 8 AM IST. During these hours you can download without any limit and the bandwidth will not be counted.
You can use your internet connection during other times also, but you will be charged if you exceed your maximum download / upload limit. BSNL currently does not provide any option to track bandwidth usage for free hours and paid usage hours separately.
Shaplus Dataone Bandwidth helps you to find the free bandwidth usage and paid / unused bandwidth usage for your broadband connection so that you can use internet accordingly.
- Download and unzip Shaplus Dataone Bandwidth.
- Delete your temporary internet cache files using a tool like Web Tracks Eraser.
- Visit BSNL’s Dataone login page (Internet Explorer only) and login to the site using your Dataone username and password.
- Click on the “Service Records” and select the month you want to calculate the bandwidth usage and click “OK”.
- Open the unzipped file DataOne-Bandwidth 2.4.exe.
- Select the tab “Non Password Version”. Click on the button “Check bandwidth usage”.
You will see the total bandwidth in Megabytes and Gigabytes. There is also an option called “Exclude free time usage (2 AM to 8 AM) which will show you only the bandwidth used in the paid slot.
This way you could use your broadband internet hours accordingly.

Thats true..Unlimited is no limits…But still thr r 2 plans in HOME UL 900 and UL900Plus
I dont mind getting slower speed(256k insted 2Mbps) coz no limit of dwn load so let the download take 15min where it will take 5 for 2Mbps

hey, taking note of the wierd happy hours (2 - 8am) can anyone suggest me some tools or softwares that can automatically dial a connection and disconnect according to a scheduler?
According to my experience, these other cable and wireless internet providers are not very reliable with speed as compared with BSNL. I agree that there isn’t much support from BSNL but frankly speaking it is not required given the well established network of phonelines.

http://duf.sourceforge.net/ is a very neat tool to understand actual Dataone usage. The Billing “tab” is instrumental in choosing right plan based on my usage.
Happy surfing!

Hello, there!
I have had Icenet (an Ahmedabad company) as my server for last six years. I started with dial up and then upgraded to broadband.
Lately, the company has been very indifferent in their service. The speed is nothing to write home about either.
Since my wife has just acqired a laptop, a friend suggested BSNL unlimited WIFI plan at 900 pm.
I have heard so mnay horror stories about BSNL tech support - or the lack of it! - I am scared to go with them. Is it really all that bad?
I am in Vallabh Vidya Nagar, near Ananad (Amul HQ), Gujarat. My phoneline is good, lineman here is cooperative and the neighbourhood does not get digged up every otherday.
All you experts out there, please advise!

Guess I should try going through their Terms & Conditions. Who knows if they did put some cap on unlimited pack ?
Maybe its like, “I hereby declare that I’ll donate two of my kidneys before I sue BSNL on overbilling”. Lol. That would be really screwed. ^_^

Moose:
Even I am in home 900+ Plan and in earlier day I was facing the same problem as to what you r facing now. I would suggest to change your DNS Entries.
OpenDNS is a better DNS, free to all. OpenDNS uses its distributed network of DNS servers to speed up your Internet experience, increase reliability, improve security and make DNS smarter for users all over the world. OpenDNS is a zero downtime service.
OpenDNS servers : 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Goto Control Pannel > Network Connections and find your connection under “LAN or High-Speed Internet†and change the DNS servers for that.
Click link below for info. on how to change the DNS server setting.
